Merry Christmas!

It took an awful lot of work to track down everyone and get their gifts in order, but Steve's going to be running around the Nexus giving out presents to all of his friends. Or inviting them over to his apartment. Whatever works for them!

"Thank you, Steve." Possibly a few more thank-yous left in him.

For his older self? What? Surprise is plain on his face. "Your older what?" Is that normal? The laugh could mean that Steve is pulling his leg. Any old thing can happen here!

"Mhm. He comes form a different world. A world where I was fixed. And did a lot of important stuff, apparently. He's old enough to be my father, now." Steve stares down into his coffee with a smile.

"He's given me a lot of advice, so I wanted to give him something back for Christmas. It's easier to just think of him as an older relative, really. Gives me less headaches."

Fixed? "Fixed implies that you're broken, Steve." Which needless to say, Matt is in the impression that he's not. It's a gentle urging that he'll end with more coffee because there's more to what he's saying.

"I think I'd consider older relative to anything else by far. That is a trip."

"There's an awful lot wrong with me, but...yeah, I don't think I'm broken neither. I like who I am. I just get frustrated sometimes. The other Mes are kinda hard to live up to." Talk about a kick to the self esteem, finding out that ever other Steve Rogers gets to be Captain America, and you're left wheezing up a lung after a flight of stairs.

"Bet he can't get around small spaces like I can though." Take, that, symbol of America. "But yeah, no. I didn't buy anything for myself. Having funds to get other people gifts is kind of a new thing for me. I went a bit overboard."

"What they all have in common though is you. I mean, otherwise they're a bunch of guys with your face. Right?" Sorry Steve. Matt has yet to have made the connection. Maybe it's a blessing. In the mean time, he's in your corner.

Matt smiles. "Never underestimate stealth." And how. "The coffee and the company were it for me but thank you." He'll go for another cookie too. "Do you uh... go to church for Christmas?"

To be fair Steve doesn't know the title the others have either. Just the legacy.

"..Thanks, Matt." It's sincere, too. Having people in his corner is also something he's not quite used to yet. He has much more than one now though!

"I used to. Back home. Raised Catholic, so it's kind of a big deal. I haven't tried to find a church here, though. Guess I was afraid it'd be too different."

Hell of a legacy. It's staggering to anyone. Matt hasn't even thought up the possibility of meeting another version of himself. It would rock his world.

Team Steve Rogers is meant to be big. Bring on more members. Print membership cards! "It's nothing."

He leans and takes a sip. "I understand," it's the case with many people. "I'm looking for a Catholic church here. Figured I'd ask people I knew first before hitting the pavement."

"Aw, well. If you're looking...then I have a couple ideas of who I could ask. It'd be nice to go back. Have some semblance of normalcy here." Not having to go alone would make it a lot better too.

Does God exist in other universes? Does he not? Steve doesn't want to know the answer to that question. Better to just keep his faith, and deal with anything else as it comes.

"We can look together."

"Two heads would be better than one." Rather than two sets of eyes. "I'd feel much better knowing someone else practicing here. Some stability in all of this is great." He does a vague gesture to the room. It is strange in these parts to say the least.

More coffee to sip and a cookie for him. Yeah, there might not be any more at all. Whoops.

Judging by the munching sound next to him, Steve's going ham on the cookies as well. He need not feel bad.

"Thanks for coming over today. I really...didn't want to spend the holidays alone." Steve glances at the tiny fake tree he has, and the solitary present underneath that won't get claimed. his stomach turns, and Steve sets the last half of his cookie down.

He's not hungry anymore.

"I'm real glad you decided to stick around, too. I'll get a jump start on church searching as soon as I'm done hunting down all my friends to give them their gifts. Some are easier to find than others."

At this rate they should just order take out. Do away with any pretense of being polite eaters. "I've spent more than a few on my own. It's not pleasant." No one should have to. Especially guys like them.

"Great. I'll do what I can on my end too. Worst case scenario...I don't know, bible study now and then?" He smiles.

"Did you bring your bible with you?" Steve didn't. There's a lot Steve wishes he'd had on him when he got thrown into this place. It keeps coming up lately. All the stuff he didn't bring.

"Mine's still...you know. Back."

"To Nexus? yes. I have one that you can use in the meantime." Matt's father's. The other is Braille. Sentimental value doesn't leave it serving its true purpose.

"You have a spare? I promise I'll take good care of it." Steve uses his mother's. It's a sentiment he'd understand well. They only ever had the family bible.

"I really...really appreciate that. We can start this week, if you'd like? until we can find a church."

"Yeah." A spare is a way to say it. The family bible is still in New York. Matt has only brought the essentials.

"That's great." He visibly perks at the idea. "The timing couldn't be better, really."

I need to watch Matt's series you play him so sweet hnggg!

Sensing that he should probably let Matt be on his way, rather than keep him all afternoon and evening to idle chatter with Steve, the slim man scrambles to get off the couch and pick up a bit so he's not looking like a total slob.

His apartment is more or less pristine, and yes, Steve still worries about things like this.

"Where would you like to meet for it? Here, again? Your place? Somewhere else?" Because the first two don't sound creepy at all, Steve.

Slob? Seriously? Super sense of smell alone shows him that this is not a mess of any kind. The time is dragging on. One more cookie in his maw to down the last of his cup.

"Let's do my place. It should be well put together by then." Creepy? Naw.

That statement describes every Marvel Character ever. Including Steve. Civil war confirms this.

"Great. Uhm." Steve looks out the window, and then gives a nervous laugh. "We may need to meet in the forum somewhere and walk there. I doubt you could give me directions that would be helpful with the snow everywhere and the Nexus being...well. The Nexus."

The great house for the Samhail ball alone should tell Matt that nothing stays the same here for long.

"Let me know how the scarf works, alright? Have a safe trip back."

"That works." Somehow or another Matt has been getting his ways around. Who knows how that's explainable. It's not at all on sight that's for sure. Still, somedays it sure does take longer than it should to get to the market. What gives?

"I already know it's going to be great. Thank you again." Matt stands and lightly brushes away any crumbs. "Merry Christmas, Steve."

Anyway, I adore your Matt so much <3

"..Merry Christmas, Matt. God bless." He'll see the other to the door, asking him hostly things like whether or not he remembered his candle and the like.

He catches himself waving when the other sets off, then laughs and drops his hand. Matt just doesn't seem like he's blind sometimes. Steve can't help it.
