It's six am when Steve gets up--makes his bed and tidies up his mostly spotless apartment. Getting up early has never been a problem for Steve and even less of one when he's got things to look forward to. The tiny fake tree is still sitting up by the window, one present underneath that never got claimed.

He waits until it's a quarter till seven before he starts the coffee, and starts rummaging through his kitchen to get what he thinks they'll need.

Breakfast and faith sound like a good way to begin the day.

"Oi! Watch it Murdock." Steve laughs and leans into the other, pushing him very slightly with all ninety pounds of him. "If I dump your bridge in a snowbank I'm pushing you in to go after it." He's already looking forward to taking Matt there sometime. It'll be a fun adventure. He needs this. Being able to joke around again.

The conversation turns more serious again, but Steve is determined to keep the good mood he has going on right now, so he shrugs and makes a point to accompany it with a 'who knows' kind of sound.

"She gave me the pool cue for Christmas despite the fight, and it wasn't by breaking it over my head. Plus she's still training me. I'd say we're doin' alright."

This should be foreboding, he's still laughing. "Okay, okay... I don't have any plans to jump off, on or around the bridge. This one or the real one." Easy going with laughs and good talks. There is nothing like this.

Matt's laughter calms. "I'm glad to hear that. You both seem like good people. And sometimes good people aren't meant to get along all the time. Just how it works. ...I have to remind myself of that."

Because the biggest fight of his life so far was not with any of the kooks in Hell's Kitchen yet but with Foggy. "Were there apologies? For the escalation, not the opinion."

"I apologized. I don't remember if she did. I don't think it matters." In the end, she's still teaching him, and he's still hoping to learn more. That's really all that matters.

Fighting with your best friend in the world is a miserable thing, but sometimes it happens. Steve's been there, and he still wouldn't have anyone else by his side before Bucky. Fighting or no, they've got each other's backs. Till the end of the line. It'd be easier for Steve to remind hismelf of that if he wasn't busy being upset over the fact that bucky isn't here. Or if he is he's avoiding Steve and also became someone's torture puppet. Wow this depressing line of thought again.

"Like I'm gonna get arrested for pushing the blind guy off an actual bridge. I can't go to prison, Murdock, they'd kill me."

They still get along from the sound of it. If Samus really took offense, if Steve truly took offense they wouldn't even be bothering. "You're a good man Steve Rogers." It took everything in Matt to not say Charlie Brown. The save is worth the dodged pop culture segway. But maybe it would be worth showing Steve a classic comic book every man to relate to.

True friends have your back no matter what. Foggy to Matt, Matt to Foggy. And here he decides that he'll be there for Steve. Eventually he'll get that whole story. Eventually.

"I gotta prove you pushed me and that I didn't give you a reason. That's how court works." Matt snickers. "Call it self defense."

"If there's one thing my looks have an advantage for, it's that no one believes I start anything." Steve laughs, and while it's sincere it's also a little bit proud. "If only they knew how bad my Brooklyn street boy temper is."

They'll both get the whole story. That's what friends do.

"Young man" Steve starts in his best impression of an old curmudgeonly judge "Your victim can't be your defense attorney also."

"Mr. Steve Rogers are you telling me that you have a penchant for starting shit?" The surprise in his voice is absolutely phony. Matt hasn't seen the spitfire quality or fury that he was describing but it's plain to see that he is a man of passion. And that can't be encased by any body type. It's the New Yorker, the American the... good guy quality.

Matt laughs and shakes his head. "Talk about a conflict of interests."

"I don't put up with bullying." Is Steve's flippant reply. Yes, yes he does. You have no idea Matt. "Now whether I get to finish shit or not....That's another story."

Steve's been beaten up more times than he can count. Part of that may be one of the couple concussions he's gotten from said fights.

"Right?" He coughs a few times as the cold starts to get to him before he clears his throat again. "Agh. I cannot wait until winter is over, man."

"Hey," now he's got to reel it back. He's so very used to Foggy Nelson teasing that can be tedious, heavy handed like a mother bear. Both hands are held up a moment. "No bullying here or shit giving or taking." For now. It is good to know though.

"I like being able to wear warm clothes. And the food." Food again. "I'm looking forward to spring too. Even with allergies."

They keep along their way. "Not too far more. It's called St Francis de Sales. Oh and if you're ever wondering, don't look up anything or anyone close by starting with saint with Siri."

"Like I'd ever have reason to let you feel my bony elbow jabs of doom." Steve laughs even as he's rolling his eyes. How Matt can be talking about food already is impressive. Steve doesn't think he'll eat again until tonight after the breakfast they've had.

"Honestly? I hate being cold and I hate not being able to breathe."

Steve stops a moment and makes a face before hurrying to get back into step with Matt. "What, why? Miss Siri doesn't like churches either?" Can you hear his D: face Matt? He is making one so hard right now.

"With a title like that I'll count myself as lucky." Eye rolls don't make noise, that's just fine. It's the laughter that matters.

Hopefully his friend isn't too cold now. Matt may have to look into seeing if they have some kind of taxi like way of getting around. Or alternative ideas until Steve is in a better climate.

"Oh no no. It's just that there are so many saints in names of buildings, streets, businesses..." He hopes that it isn't too late to save the other man's perspective on the world.

"Bucky called it that." Because of course he did. The poofy coat keeps making it's poofy noise and Steve seems to be keeping up okay, with only the barest of wheezes in his voice. He likes the exercise. The spirit is willing, but the body...well.

"Oh. Oh...UHm. Right, because that other thing would just be silly right? Haha...haaa..." He clears his throat.
